SPAN 303: Adv Spanish Grammar
Reviews all phases of communication skills with practice in understanding, speaking, and writing grammatically correct Spanish. Teaches specific components of Spanish grammar: the Spanish verbal system, the subjunctive, ser versus estar, and other problematic aspects of grammar. For students planning to teach Spanish. (Offered every fourth semester.)
This course was completed on Spring 2015 and it meets the first and second MLO’s. This course contributes to the fulfillment of the MLO’s by helping me better understand the Spanish language based on its grammar and punctuation. Some work that I completed in this learning experience/course that illustrates my development in this area are the homework that we had to do every time there was class, two essays, and three exams. The homework consisted of exercises for each chapter that can be found in the assigned book for this class. As for the essays, we were to choose one of two topics that were given to us and write a one and a half page essay. The teacher would then correct them and give them back to us so that we would revise them. After that we would return them to get a grade on it. The exams that we took were also based on the book. The teacher would give us a study guide for each test. Some understandings that I gained from this course that is a significant contribution for my major is that I got a better understanding of how the Spanish language works and that it has rules that should be followed for one’s writing to make sense. Some areas that I wish to develop further are to be able to know all the Spanish tenses by memory and to know more about punctuation. I intend to further explore this learning experience by applying what I have learned to my writing (Spanish Capstone, Spanish essays, etc.) and helping my siblings with their Spanish homework.
