WLC 300: WLC Pro Seminar
This course introduces students to the majors in Japanese Language and Culture, Spanish or World Language and Cultures. Students acquire knowledge and understanding needed to fulfill Major Learning Outcomes for the programs. Students identify and work with a major advisor to develop individual learning plans. The course examines opportunities in related professional and career paths, including graduate education and teaching credential preparation. (Offered fall semester.)
This course was completed on Fall 2013 and it meets the major requirement. This course contributes to the fulfillment of the MLO by teaching me what is required for me to graduate with a Spanish major. Some work that I completed in this learning experience/course that illustrates my development in this area is an e-portfolio, a personal statement, and a resume. In this class, the instructor taught us about what is required for the major. An example of this would be to make an e-portfolio, and in it, we have to make a resume, and a personal statement. We also have to make a capstone project when we are to graduate and someone came to talk to us about the careers that one can have with a Spanish or Japanese major (mostly teaching). Lastly, we talked about internships, and studying abroad. Some understandings that I gained from this course that is a significant contribution for my major is, like I said before, helps me meet the requirements for this major. An area that I wish to develop further is in the careers area. I want to know what other careers there are for Spanish major. I intend to further explore this learning experience by applying what I learned in this class to my major and to other aspects of my student life.
